Prospect Summary

Tyrese Chambers 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • Second-Team All-C-USA (2021)
  • Set FIU records in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2021
  • Originally at Fort Scott JC before transferring to Sacred Heart for two seasons which he then left to go to FIU

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Spread
  • 2022 projected role: Backup receiver with situational deep threat ability

Pros: Tyrese Chambers is a big-play receiver with very good production in his one season with FIU. He aligns mostly outside but will move inside to maximize matchups. He showcases good release packages and uses his foot quickness to win off the line. Chambers is a vertical receiver with good speed to stretch the field. He averaged nearly 23.87 yards per reception and is at his best working down the field. He shows a good ability to track the football and has good ball skills with strong hands overall. Chambers is a tough receiver with good contact balance as a runner with the ball in his hands.

Cons: Tyrese Chambers looks much smaller than his listed weight and I question his size overall. For a big-play receiver, he doesn’t show elite top-end speed and oftentimes he is forced to make contested catches down the field as he hasn’t created enough separation. He doesn’t run the full route tree and is mainly utilized on vertical and in-breaking routes where he is on a linear track. He has just above-average play strength overall and lacks a large catch radius.
