Pros: Robert Cooper is a thickly-built, stout interior defensive lineman that appears to have great functional strength. Against the run, Cooper does a good job using his natural leverage to anchor and set the line of scrimmage. Cooper shows to be a tough player to move off of the line of scrimmage, often requiring double teams to displace him. Although Cooper is a thickly-built lineman, he has surprising athleticism. Cooper can cross offensive linemen’s faces to properly execute stunts and get backfield penetration. Cooper has a quick first step that allows him to get the penetration and create disruption in the backfield. 

Cons: Robert Cooper needs to show better as a pass rusher. From the interior defensive line position, Cooper has minimal pass rush presence. Cooper has the initial quickness to get into offensive linemen but often fails to complete the pass rush. When engaged with an offensive lineman, Cooper fails to continue to work and free himself. It appears that a pass-rush plan and counter moves could help Cooper tremendously. Cooper has the potential to become a well-rounded defensive lineman but needs to develop this aspect of his game.
