O’Cyrus Torrence 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • ULL Transfer
  • First-Team All-Sun-Belt (2021)

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Traits best suit him to play in a gap run scheme
  • 2022 projected role: Starting RG

Pros: O’Cyrus Torrence is a wide-bodied interior offensive lineman that likes to combine his weight with his quick first step to generate power at the line of scrimmage. On run plays, Torrence does a good job of coming off the ball and sticking to defenders to sustain the block and try to reset the line of scrimmage. A big reason for his effectiveness is his effort. The other is competitiveness. Torrence plays with a good physical temperament that makes him an ideal candidate for an offensive lineman to design run plays around his blocking. Torrence is making the jump in competition from the University of Louisiana Lafayette to the University of Florida, and he will need his high effort to assist him in making this adjustment.

Cons: Pass protection shows to be an area of concern for O’Cyrus Torrence. Torrence appears to have a limited amount of range as an offensive lineman, which affects him in aspects of pass protection. When Torrence has to pick up a delayed blitz and he has to react, he appears to be a step slow at times. His ability to retrace laterally also appears to be delayed. I believe that Torrence can be more effective if he cuts down his weight, as it will allow him to be a quicker interior offensive lineman.
