Loic Ngassam Nya 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Pros: To start, Loic Ngassam Nya is an experienced starter with 2,292 snaps over his career. He has been durable for the Demon Deacons. I enjoyed the way he battles on the interior. He has the ferociousness of a pit bull. He has a tremendous motor and continues to block until the whistle is blown. He sports a stout and dense build. His understanding of leverage shows with proper hand placement. Nya shoots stiff and strong hands that land inside the chest of his opponents. When uncovered, he does a good job working as a bumper helping his teammates. He has quick feet and hips to aid his lateral movements on zone blocks. He can open his hips and work down the line quickly to reach and seal. He’s had positive showings against twists and stunts and recovers nicely to catch the looper. He’s experienced with snaps at both left and right guard and seemed comfortable in either spot. 

Cons: Loic Ngassam Nya’s feet and base can become over-extended outside of his frame, resulting in poor balance. When his hand is defeated, he will begin to lean on opponents, conceding balance. His lower body is on the leaner side and he struggles to set and anchor. Questions sustaining blocks are valid, as strong linemen are able to overcome his hand placement skills. If unable to quickly engage and latch into his defender, his lack of length is highlighted. DL with great length can play outside of his frame and drive him back into the pocket. Outside of the zone actions, it’s uncertain if Nya can hold up at the point of attack or displace NFL opponents with a vertical push.
