Andrew Raym 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • Consensus four-star recruit
  • Choose Oklahoma over the likes of Georgia, Michigan, and others.

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Spread
  • 2022 projected role: Starting center

Pros: Andrew Raym is a dynamic athlete at the center position that also brings a physical temperament when working into contact. The Sooners frequently task Raym with operating in space and climbing to the second level, where he showcases easy movement skills and body control in space. He is an explosive mover that quickly gets to his landmarks and showcases the foot speed needed to mirror pass rushers in pass protection. Raym plays the game with a tenacious mindset and is always looking to finish blocks. He has plenty of power throughout his frame with heavy hands and good contact balance. Has played snaps at both left guard and center.

Cons: From size and athleticism to functional strength and aggressiveness, Andrew Raym has the makeup of an NFL starter. The key moving forward is solidifying his resume. Raym enters the 2022 season with only seven starts under his belt, so more experience and expanding the sample size of quality play are important. While he showcases the ability to use his hands independently, he is still developing his strike timing and location. In space, Raym can be even more effective by anticipating flow and adjusting his angles to more consistently connect with moving targets.
