Prospect Summary

Damien Moore 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • Consensus three-star recruit
  • Three-sport high school athlete (football, basketball, and track & field)

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Power/gap mixed with inside zone
  • 2022 projected role: Starting RB

Pros: Damien Moore is a downhill power back. He runs behind his pads with toughness. Moore scans the line of scrimmage from the inside out. He is a patient runner that presses gaps before choosing his path. He reads his blocks well and identifies defensive leverages for potential cut-back lanes. A strong frame allows him to finish runs with a forward lean and in position to gain extra yards. He has solid contact balance to absorb contact and stay upright. He also provides trustworthy protection for his quarterback. Moore scans for potential threats before squaring and anchoring.

Cons: Damien Moore is a one-speed runner that lacks a second gear in the open field. Although he can find cut-back lanes, Moore just gets the yards that are blocked. He lacks the quickness and elusiveness to force multiple missed tackles. He’s also had only limited receiving production and opportunities. He lacks the burst to offer big-play ability—only two 50-plus yard runs in his career so far.
