Pros: It’s very easy to notice the arm talent Spencer Rattler has. He has access to the entire field with plenty of zip on his throws and the ability to generate distance. Rattler is a talented thrower on the move and finds plenty of success on rollouts. For a passer that features quite the fastball, Rattler knows when to take something off his throws and use his off-speed pitches. He does well to hit rhythm throws when executing quick game. While he isn’t with an occasional misfire, Rattler has impressive moments of strong accuracy and ball placement to all levels of the field.

Cons: Spencer Rattler’s field vision and decision-making is highly erratic. There are times when it appears he is chasing big plays down the field and puts the ball in harm’s way while ignoring obvious profits. When pressured, Rattler lacks poise and gets antsy, which results in questionable decisions. While Rattler has enough mobility to extend plays and scramble, he’s not a skilled runner and seems to lack an awareness of his own physical restrictions in terms of size and speed. Rattler is a major pocket drifter and at times appears adverse to stepping up. It certainly appears he wants to gain depth to distance himself from the rush but also to improve his ability to see the middle of the field. He’s bouncy in the pocket which presents challenges when needing to find quick platforms and snap off throws under duress. After joining Oklahoma with plenty of hype, Rattler couldn’t keep ahold of the starting job due to erratic play on the field and concerns over his presence as a leader. He has a lot to prove.
