Prospect Summary

Eric Miller 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • Academic All-Big-Ten (2019-2021)

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Inside zone mixed with west coast concepts
  • 2022 projected role: Starting LT

Pros: Massive body types stick out on tape like a sore thumb. Eric Miller has a big frame and long arms. He uses his arm length to lock-out defenders with good separation to maintain balance. Against wide-angle rushers, Miller’s length helps him cast a wide net to catch inside counters. He plays with good physicality and strength in the run game. He displaces defenders with his vertical drive blocking sequences. His traits and physical build are more suited to play guard.

Cons: Eric Miller is not a dancing bear, his footwork is very clunky and disorganized. A below-average mover, he struggles with lateral agility and playing on the edges. He’s unable to get in phase with defenders on reach-block attempts. He showcases struggles when forced to redirect and redistribute his weight. Stunts and twists stress his movement skills. Although he plays with power downhill in the run game, he does not absorb power or anchor well. He has a slimmer lower body than expected. He loses balance consistently due to wide, poor hand placement and bending at the waist.
