  • 2022 projected role: Starting linebacker once cleared to return from injury

Pros: Edefuan Ulofoshio is an instinctive defender that hunts the football with intent. It’s easy to love the way he flies around the field and executes with urgency. Ulofoshio is a strong tackler that rarely comes up empty and is committed to tackling with sound fundamentals in terms of aiming point, wrapping up, and driving his feet through the ball carrier. He’s a strong processor with a nose for the football when playing downhill. Ulofoshio is a springy athlete with good coverage awareness. While he is sound with his zone drops, Ulofoshio presents the movement skills necessary to mirror and match routes in man coverage. He offers plenty of appeal as a matchup linebacker that can run, cover, and hold his own in space. Beginning his career as a walk-on, it didn’t take long for Ulofoshio to make an impact and become a scholarship athlete for the Huskies program.

Cons: Of late, injuries have been a challenge for Edefuan Ulofoshio. Following the 2020 season, Ulofoshio had surgery for an arm issue and then suffered a season-ending knee injury after six games in 2021. It is currently unknown when he’ll be ready to play in 2022. Ulofoshio lacks ideal size and it impacts his contact balance, especially when taking on blocks. His ability to stack and shed is underwhelming and he gets pushed around by blockers due to his lack of mass and ability to leverage his hips and remain stout. While he’s played plenty of MIKE linebacker for Washington, he’s likely a pursuit-style weakside defender at the next level.
