DeMarvion Overshown 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

• 2022 projected role:  Versatile second-level defender that will play both inside/outside linebacker  

Pros: DeMarvion Overshown shows to be one of the most athletic linebackers in college football. Overshown is a former safety that moved down to the linebacker position. His former defensive back skills show well in how he executes his zone drops and becomes a great defender in pass coverage. Overshown has shown that he can get as deep as 30 yards down the field to make plays. His athleticism also shows in his range. Once Overshown understands the flow of the play, he uses his great speed and acceleration to close on ball carriers. Overshown is a great athlete that has traits that can make him a special football player as a second-level defender. 

Cons: DeMarvion Overshown’s former DB background helped him tremendously in pass coverage, but they also hurt him against the run. Overshown seems to always be a second late diagnosing the play. It looks as though he still believes he has the time that he would have when he played safety, but with him being close to the line of scrimmage, his clock just isn’t quick enough. Overshown needs to improve on reading his keys quicker so he can play downhill and make more tackles near the line of scrimmage. Overshown is a great athlete that just needs more reps to become a more reliable run defender.
