In years past, the Seattle Seahawks have enjoyed the luxury of having the best quarterback in the division. With the division title being the safest route to the playoffs, Seattle has found themselves in the playoffs nearly every year that they’ve had Russel Wilson at the helm. However, at the quarterback position, the rest of the division has caught up to Seattle.

After the Los Angeles Rams trading for Matt Stafford, Seattle instantly has competition for the best QB in the division. The San Francisco 49ers drafting Trey Lance effectively put Jimmy Garoppolo on notice that he is not the quarterback of the future. However, that motivation may allow them to ultimately get the best version of Garoppolo this season. Kyler Murray is coming off his first Pro Bowl and could be in the MVP conversation this season.

This has ultimately created divisional parity that is unrivaled in the NFL. The question remains: Will Seattle have to answer the offensive line question AGAIN this season?

Seattle has always had a challenging time protecting Russell Wilson. In fact, it was the source of conversation this offseason that nearly caused Wilson to be traded.

Wilson went on a national platform and expressed his displeasure with being hit so much, which prompted several teams to “check in” with Seattle with regards to trading him. Seattle traded for Gabe Jackson and also selected Stone Forsythe in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. With Duane Brown’s contract nearly expired, Forsythe could step in to replace him. They may also be in the hunt for another lineman or two before training camp begins.

Ultimately, Seattle has relied heavily on Wilson to hide the shortcomings on their roster. However, with the rest of their division catching up with them at the quarterback position, Seattle may have to reinvent itself. At the very least, the Seahawks need to improve the offensive scheme and solidify the offensive line in an effort to keep Wilson clean in the pocket and happy overall.
