How To Create Ultimate OwnersBox Lineup

With football season in full swing, and the NFL regular season right around the corner, there’s nothing better than watching the gridiron action each weekend while earning some extra cold hard cash. It’s been more than a decade since daily fantasy sports (DFS) infused a jolt of energy to the fantasy industry, and as we sit in 2021, fantasy sports are arguably in as strong and diversified a position as they’ve ever been, with seemingly endless avenues to fully evolve the user each and every day. However, even with how well-entrenched season-long, daily, and several other variations of real money-based fantasy sports contests are, there still remains room for innovation.

Enter OwnersBox, a newfound partner of The Draft Network, to give fantasy sports aficionados around the country the best of what the DFS landscape has to offer. A platform that burst onto the scene in the fall of last year, OwnersBox is primarily tailored as a weekly fantasy product that avoids the marathon-like aspects of the season-long game while also canceling what many consider the pitfalls of daily fantasy sports within the industry’s biggest sites.

With support for the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB, there are certainly season-long fantasy leagues for the various sports that base their in-season scoring and transactions in weekly increments, but OwnersBox is the first major site to implement a real-money component that pays out winners weekly, even when a contest is ongoing.

And now, OwnersBox is gearing up for their debut of the SuperFlex format, a one-of-a-kind competition for the upcoming NFL campaign.

How To Build A Roster

Head-2-Head

Like many sites, similar to FantasyDraft, once the user enters a contest that fills to capacity, a live draft will begin either immediately afterward or at a specific date and time, which can also be set by the individual when creating tournaments for bragging rights within the office.

Drafts are conducted in the traditional "Snake" format that season-long fantasy players are familiar with. As with those formats, the order of selections is reversed for each round. The snake draft ensures there is no overlap whatsoever in players selected, unlike in traditional DFS contests on platforms like FanDuel and DraftKings, where the same player can be selected by an unlimited number of users, usually with a correlating salary cap.

With each selection comes a one-minute time limit. If that time limit is exceeded, the system makes an auto-pick selection on their behalf. To avoid auto-draft, players can set a predetermined rankings system for the automation to follow, if the user is unable to follow along pick-by-pick. As a whole, each fantasy team consists of 10 total players, regardless of the sport.

Standard NFL Roster Format:

1 QB, 2 RB’s, 2 WR’s, 1 TE, 1 kicker, and 3 defensive positions (DEF)

SuperFlex Tournament

SuperFlex NFL Roster Format:

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX, 1 SuperFlex

2 FLEX Positions – RB/WR/TE can be rostered

1 SuperFlex Position- QB/RB/WR/TE can be rostered

*SuperFlex NFL contests require that participants' lineups remain within the $50,000 salary cap with the kicker and defensive positions eliminated.

With SuperFlex, gone is the volatility of the kicker and defensive spot. While the two spots can offer a leg up on the competition with lower ownership in higher-stake tournaments, the elimination of the positions will introduce higher points, and in turn, contests where skill is valued, rather than dumpster diving for a salary saver that then breaks the slate. We’ve all been there.

Scoring

  • Rushing/Receiving Yards = 1 point per 10 yards
  • Passing/Return Yards = 1 point per 20 yards
  • Receptions = 1 point
  • All Touchdowns = 6 points
  • Interceptions = -3 points
  • Fumbles Lost = -3 points
  • Sacks Surrendered = -1 point

With touchdowns at a premium, of course, your Alvin Kamaras, Dalvin Cooks, Travis Kelces, and Christian McCaffreys of the world will be premium selections, but soon-to-be point hogs in Marquez Callaway of the Saints, James Robinson of the Jaguars, Javonte Williams in Denver, and Logan Thomas in Washington are a few under the radar selections many have glanced over in their early drafts for Week 1. For tips and tricks each and every week, the TDN Fantasy team will be providing in-depth analysis on preferred plays, matchups to watch, and sleepers you should keep an eye on as you enter your drafts prior to games kicking off.

OwnersBox is leading the way with an innovative, exciting user interface to keep the football-hungry ego in all of us fueled for the entire season.
