After days of swirling rumors and speculation, the Odell Beckham Jr. watch has come to an end.
According to multiple reports, Beckham has chosen the Los Angeles Rams as his new destination. The news sent significant shockwaves around the football world, as Beckham was heavily linked with the likes of the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, and Kansas City Chiefs in recent days. The Rams seemingly swooped in at the 11th hour, and will ultimately pair Beckham with Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods in what will surely be one of the scariest pass-catching trios in all of football.
Beckham, a three-time Pro Bowler, will now battle for targets in what's an absolutely loaded offense. It's a priceless addition for quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has been in MVP form this season. Beckham will also look to perform some damage control to his reputation before hitting free agency again in a few months’ time.
It's a one-year deal for Beckham in Los Angeles, who may be viewed as a short-term rental for a Super Bowl-contending Rams team. General manager Les Snead will leave no stone unturned in his efforts to ensure the Rams play for the Super Bowl in front of a home crowd at SoFi Stadium in February.
The Rams attempted to claim Detroit-bound wide receiver Josh Reynolds on waivers, but Reynolds doesn't belong in the same stratosphere when discussing the potential of Beckham in Los Angeles' high-flying passing attack. Now in his eighth season, skeptics have begun to question Beckham's current form, given he caught just seven touchdowns in 29 games as a Brown while constantly struggling with injury. But Beckham was a poor fit in Kevin Stefanski's run-heavy approach and a fresh start in Los Angeles may be just what the doctor ordered. A five-time 1,000-yard receiver, a change of scenery and new expectations could help Beckham take his career back to the heights he once reached as a member of the New York Giants.
Team owner Stan Kroenke and Snead continue to operate as the most aggressive front office in all of football in their ruthless pursuit of the ultimate prize. The Rams have now added Beckham just 10 days after acquiring three-time first-team All-Pro outside linebacker Von Miller.
Strap in, Rams fans. It's going to be a WILD ride.
