Life in the NFL is hard, as rookies everywhere are finding out after their first taste of action. While in your typical year rookies have the preseason to be phased into the realm of professional football, the rookie class of 2020 has to endure a baptism by fire. We're playing for keeps right out of the gate.

Which rookie performers were able to make the most of the pro action in Week 7? We, along with our partners at Panini, are recognizing the best of the best each week. Here are the Offensive Rookies of the Week from each conference for Week 7 of the 2020 NFL season.

AFC OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

QB Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

What a start it has been for former Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is off to a scorching start, shredding a lot of preconceived notions about his caliber of play in the NFL based off his resume at Oregon. In a 10-point win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Herbert logged 347 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 111.3 while also adding 66 rushing yards and another score on the ground. In short, it was a masterful performance from the young quarterback, as he put the Chargers' offense on his back as both the team's leading passer and rusher.

Just how good has Herbert been this season? Despite some frustrating losses in recent weeks to Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans, Herbert is on pace to throw for 4,626 yards and 36 touchdowns this season based on the pace he's set over the first five starts of his NFL career. What's even more scary? He's only gotten better in recent weeks! Herbert has tossed 10 touchdowns and just one interception over his last three starts; indicating that he isn't likely to be falling much off the pace for this award in future weeks.

Kudos to Herbert for collecting his first career win as a starting quarterback, as well—as that was the deciding factor between he and fellow top-10 overall quarterback Joe Burrow in winning this week's honor.

NFC OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

RB Antonio Gibson, Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team logged a big win on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, scoring a 25-3 victory in dominating fashion on both sides of the line of scrimmage. The primary beneficiary as Washington held the ball? That would be Gibson, who logged his first career 100-yard rushing performance in the win. In all, Gibson logged 20 carries for 128 yards (6.0 yards per carry) and one score—an impressive day for the 66th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Gibson has been teasing a breakout performance for the past few weeks and it finally came in Week 7—indicating that the excitement around Gibson as a player despite only minimal usage as a running back during his time at Memphis was well placed. One has to think that he's only scratching the surface of his potential as a running back; an exciting proposition for a franchise in Washington that needs all the offensive weapons they can find.

At least for one week, Gibson was a starring play for the club. Now comes the fun part: producing an encore.
