Life in the NFL is hard, as rookies everywhere are finding out after their first taste of action. While in your typical year rookies have the preseason to be phased into the realm of professional football, the rookie class of 2020 has to endure a baptism by fire. We're playing for keeps right out of the gate.
Which rookie performers were able to make the most of their action in Week 10? We, along with our partners at Panini, are recognizing the best of the best each week. Here are the Offensive Rookies of the Week from each conference for Week 10 of the 2020 NFL season.
AFC OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
WR Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have found another young weapon for Joe Burrow. Tee Higgins has been quite impressive in his rookie season. Coming into Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, he had four consecutive games of at least 70 yards receiving after starting the season slowly through Weeks 1-2. Facing one of the best defenses in the NFL on Sunday he turned in another stellar performance. On nine targets, he caught seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. If Higgins remains healthy and maintains his production, he projects to have approximately 71 catches for 1,072 yards and seven touchdowns. Higgins is proving that he can be a reliable and dependable option for Burrow for many years to come.
NFC OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
RB D'Andre Swift, Detroit Lions
Swift is proving to be one of the bright spots for the Lions in 2020. He had an inconsistent and rough start to his first NFL season, but has been able to rebound and overcome that adversity. In their nail-biter of a game on Sunday against Washington, Swift had the best game of his early career. For the game, he had 149 total yards on 21 total touches—16 carries for 81 rushing yards and five catches for 68 receiving yards and a touchdown. Coming out of college, he was such a dynamic and explosive runner in space. We saw that again in Week 10. With many jobs on the line in Detroit, it would behoove them to showcase their young assets going forward, especially if they are more dangerous options than aging vets. Swift is clearly one of those guys.
