After weeks of swirling rumors and speculation, the Tennessee Titans got their man.

According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Falcons have agreed to trade wide receiver Julio Jones to the Titans, ultimately pairing him with A.J. Brown in what now looks, on paper, to be one of the more formidable duos on the outside in all of football.

Exactly what the Falcons are receiving in return has yet to be clarified—reportedly a 2022 second-round pick and swap of 2023 day-three picks—but what has become evident is Titans general manager Jon Robinson’s effort to boost the Titans over the hump as Tennessee eyes their first Lombardi trophy in franchise history.

Jones, a two-time All-Pro during his time in Atlanta, undoubtedly becomes a top target in what was a rather underwhelming pass-catching corps aside from the aforementioned Brown, who now enters his third season in Tennessee. For an offense hinging upon the ability of all-world back Derrick Henry to carry the load week-to-week, the addition of Jones on the outside for Ryan Tannehill is a priceless addition.

The NFL’s all-time leader in receiving yards per game (95.5), Jones’ weekly production slots him ahead of the likes of transcendent talents like Calvin Johnson (86.1), and Jerry Rice (75.6).

Following the losses of Corey Davis and Jonnu Smith in free agency, the Titans attempted to add fresh talent out wide selecting Dez Fitzpatrick and Racey McMath via the draft, but neither prospect belongs in the same stratosphere when discussing the potential of Jones in Tennessee’s west-coast hybrid offense, nor were they expected to fill the shoes of Davis and Smith’s departure. Jones, however, can hit the ground running. Well, sprinting if you ask me.

Entering his 11th season, skeptics have begun to finagle their way out of their woodwork attributing age to his “unproductive” 2020 campaign, a season where despite appearing in just nine games, Jones was able to wrangle in 51 receptions for 771 yards, good for 85.6 yards a matchup.

A seven-time 1,000-yard receiver, a change of scenery and new expectations could take a Canton-bound career to another level, as one of the league’s generational talents looks to recapture one of the most dominant tenures on the outside the NFL has seen in quite some time.
