As deep as the tight end class is, and has been all draft cycle long, day one in Mobile saw a name rise amongst the masses as a talent to red dot as we move further into Senior Bowl week and into the meat of the pre-draft circuit. At 6-foot-3, it’s hard to miss Greg Dulcich. However, in a loaded class of tight end talent, he has often slipped under the radar as a headliner in what has become one of the most well-rounded position groups this year’s draft class has to offer. Tuesday was Dulcich’s breakout party. An American squad touting the likes of Coastal Carolina’s Isaiah Likely, who’s drawn headlines for his breakaway speed and high-level projection as the ultimate chess piece within an offense, Dulcich was the one turning heads today all practice long. In one-on-ones, Dulcich was as smooth as an athlete could possibly be with his athletic profile. A big-bodied pass-catcher who wins off the LOS as a technical route-runner with sneaky burst, I can’t express enough how impressive he was each and every rep he received. Against quicker linebackers like JoJo Domann, even when he found defenders on his hip, no matter the depth of his route, he was consistently able to seal and pluck passes out of the air with his nearly 82-inch wingspan. On the contrary, when faced with bigger ‘backers and the occasional safety, Dulcich was quick off the LOS with light feet and quick hips to turn inside/out to create massive throwing windows for any of the signal-callers tasked with feeding him the football. A pro-ready prospect who will draw an increasingly heavy amount of eyes as teams look for the next matchup nightmare within their aerial attack, Dulcich quickly proved he belonged here in Mobile as my clear-cut TE1 of the first session of practices. While Colorado State’s Trey McBride—the in-line threat I was highest on entering the week—left MUCH to be desired in all phases, Dulcich quickly stole the show in the second session. As a prospect whose numbers at UCLA failed to jump off the page, when projecting Dulcich as a potential impact threat in the passing game who’s shown the ability to move vertically in the run game, day one of Senior Bowl practices couldn’t have gone any better for Dulcich. His draft stock could enjoy a significant rise if he’s able to replicate his high level of play the rest of the way here in Mobile.
