Fantasy Football Week 4 Waiver Wire: Add These Players

NOTE: Players listed below are owned in fewer than 45% of leagues

QUARTERBACKS

Jared Goff (QB - LAR) | Available in 62% of leagues

After back to back games out East in which he scored an average of 25.61 points per game, Goff returns home to face off against one of the worst defenses in the NFL in the Giants. The Giants are allowing more than 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks after facing Ben Roethlisberger in his NFL return, Mitchell Trubisky, and Nick Mullens. Goff should easily find his way into a third straight 25-point performance, given how much this Los Angeles offense is humming.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB - MIA) | Available in 94% of leagues

We got to see a little FitzMagic on Thursday night in Jacksonville and maybe we’ll see it again 10 days later at home against a Seahawks defense that’s incredibly friendly to fantasy quarterbacks. Fitzpatrick looked awful to open the season against the Patriots, but now has back-to-back 24-plus point performances. If you’re in a pinch, Fitzpatrick could be a top-20 quarterback this week—especially with a healthier DeVante Parker who benefits from a bit of extra rest.

RUNNING BACKS

Jeff Wilson Jr. (RB - SF) | Available in 86% of leagues

It’s slim pickings on the running back front on the waiver wire right now. The intriguing players are all rostered in at least half of leagues, but Wilson is a name to keep an eye on. It’s expected we’ll see a split between him and Jerick McKinnon for as long as Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman are out. The matchup next week against the Eagles isn’t anything special, but if you’re in a bind because of injuries or are in a multi-flex league, there are worse options.

Rex Burkhead (RB - NE) | Available in 82% of leagues

I don’t really buy Burkhead’s three-touchdown performance. Obviously, the Patriots’ fantasy running back situation is always a nightmare, but figuring out which games are the “Burkhead games” is even more difficult. However, we shouldn’t just ignore this big game because he is involved fairly often in normal weeks. This is a deep league add only.

Carlos Hyde (RB - SEA) | Available in 90% of leagues

Chris Carson has a sprained knee, which means it's possible he doesn't miss any time. However, it's better to be safe than sorry if you roster Carson, so be sure to add Hyde to your team even if Carson is on pace to be active in Week 4—you never know if he'll reaggregate the injury. Hyde is averaging seven touches per game with Carson fully healthy and would see his workload spike considerably if he becomes the short-term starter. With the Dolphins on tap this week, Hyde would be a surefire RB2 if Carson is out and a possible flex play if Carson is limited.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Justin Jefferson (WR - MIN) | Available in 66% of leagues

The big rookie winner of the weekend is Jefferson, who had a 30.5-point day against the Titans on Sunday. He had seven catches for 175 yards and a score—he was Minnesota’s most targeted player. It was a welcome sight as quarterback Kirk Cousins has really locked in on throwing to Adam Thielen and no one else for the most part to start the season. We’ve been waiting for a breakout from the first-round pick and I believe his success can be somewhat sustainable—and by that, I mean a weekly flex play. Minnesota gets to take on a vulnerable Texans secondary next week and Jefferson will be a top-30 wide receiver.

Brandon Aiyuk (WR - SF) | Available in 87% of leagues

Aiyuk finally had his "welcome to the NFL" game on Sunday, with his 21.1-point performance against the Giants. The rookie out of Arizona State had a rushing touchdown to go with 101 total yards and five receptions. His heavy usage in this new-look (because of injuries) 49ers offense is a great sign, especially with the Eagles and Dolphins on tap over the next two weeks. He might not be a starter when Deebo Samuel comes back, but he should be considered as a potential starter in multi-flex leagues.

Randall Cobb (WR - HOU) | Available in 84% of leagues

Let’s attack another bad secondary in Week 4, this time the other team from the game mentioned above. The Vikings are getting absolutely gashed by wide receivers and Cobb is starting to come on as a reliable option for Deshaun Watson after mostly being invisible in the season opener. Cobb has caught nine of his 10 targets over the last two weeks and finally found the end zone in Week 3. I have a feeling he could be on my sneaky starts list in Week 4 given the matchup and increased usage.

Anthony Miller (WR - CHI) | Available in 70% of leagues

Miller caught the game-winning touchdown in the Bears’ comeback victory against the Falcons and could get a boost to his value with Matt Nagy benching Mitchell Trubisky in favor of Nick Foles. If the Bears take more shots downfield, Miller could look a lot like the player he was late last season. If he didn’t have a goose egg against the Giants in Week 2, he’d be owned in 80+% of leagues. Snag him now and put him in flex consideration moving forward.

Cole Beasley (WR - BUF) | Available in 89% of leagues

This dude just puts up points in PPR leagues. Despite the addition of Stefon Diggs, Beasley is still getting his 6-7 targets per game. Sure, John Brown missing a lot of this week’s game helped his production, but what about Weeks 1 and 2? If you need a high-floor option, especially during upcoming bye weeks, look no further than the Buffalo slot receiver. With the Raiders, Titans, Chiefs, and Jets on tap over the next month, he could find his way into a flex spot more often than not.

Greg Ward Jr. (WR - PHI) | Available in 99% of leagues

Somehow, all of the Eagles’ pass-catchers are hurt again. DeSean Jackson and Dallas Goedert left Week 3’s tie against the Bengals with injuries with Alshon Jeffery and Jalen Reagor already out. Just like last year, Ward thrived in the “next man up” role. His 20-plus fantasy point performance could be a sign of things to come in the short-term. He’ll be an intriguing play against a banged-up 49ers secondary. However, look at this as a one-week add because he’s likely not startable against the Steelers and Ravens in subsequent weeks.

Tee Higgins (WR - CIN) | Available in 93% of leagues

This is more of a long-term play, but with 15 targets and eight catches over the last two weeks, Higgins is starting to develop some good chemistry with fellow rookie Joe Burrow. He’s the third option in the passing game at best right now, but the Bengals are throwing a lot and A.J. Green is unlikely to stay healthy for 16 games. If you have some bench flexibility right now, add him. He gets the Jaguars next week too, so he may be a top-40 option.

TIGHT ENDS

Mo Alie-Cox (TE - IND) | Available in 91% of leagues

UNLEASH MO. The athletic tight end had his second consecutive strong game on Sunday, beating up the Jets for 3/50/1 after getting 5/111/0 last week. It’s quite possible no one loves tight ends more than Philip Rivers, so if Alie-Cox continues to get snaps, he’ll continue to produce. He’ll be a borderline TE1 going forward.

Jimmy Graham (TE - CHI) | Available in 86% of leagues

Hear me out… hear me out. While this may seem like an overreaction after a two-touchdown game, it's not just that. Foles loves throwing to tight ends and it’s safe to assume that he’ll be the Bears’ starter moving forward. Like Miller above, Graham was a no-show against the Giants after a solid Week 1. His 10 targets in Week 3 are encouraging and he should be strongly considered if you’re streaming tight ends. He’s already got three touchdowns in three games and there’s room for him to be the No. 3 pass-catching option behind Allen Robinson and Miller, especially with Tarik Cohen being hurt.

Eric Ebron (TE - PIT) | Available in 75% of leagues

The Steelers are making an effort to get Ebron more involved in the offense and it’s starting to pay off. After a 3/43/0 game in Denver in Week 2, he had 5/52/1 in Week 3 as his total targets jumped from five to seven. The Diontae Johnson injury is one to watch when it comes to workload, but if you’re in a multi-TE league or just streaming the position, work Ebron into your rotation.
