The New York Giants are closing out year three of the Daniel Jones experiment and it’s safe to say that that this experiment has been a failure. Over the last three years, Jones has yet to take the next step in his development of becoming a franchise NFL quarterback. Jones’ development seems to have stalled somewhere between a bottom-tier starter and a reliable backup quarterback. In terms of Jones’ development, there is enough blame to go around for everyone. Whether it’s the general manager failing to provide Jones with a good offensive line, or the subpar offensive coordinators that have failed to call plays that seem to fit Jones' skill set, the whole system is a failure and I believe that it would benefit both Jones and the Giants organization to turn the page on the Daniel Jones chapter.

In my assessment of the Giants roster, I believe that there is one real answer that will help New York turn back into a championship contender immediately. They need to push all the chips in the middle of the table to acquire Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers.

As far as being an attractive destination for quarterbacks, the Giants check a lot of boxes necessary to lure a big-time quarterback to their franchise. First, they are in the top media market in the country, so when you’re playing well as a quarterback, everything is elevated as far as notoriety and recognition. And for quarterbacks like Wilson and Rodgers, who are trying to solidify themselves as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, a media market like New York can help that cause.

Secondly, the Giants have plenty of offensive weapons on their team. When Saquon Barkley is healthy, he is one of the NFL's top running back. Barkley is a dynamic runner of the football but can also be a mismatch out of the backfield as a receiving threat. In addition to Barkley, the Giants also have good receiving targets. They have Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, and Kadarius Toney all under contract for next year. And at the tight end position, they have Kyle Rudolph and might return Evan Engram as well. As far as offensive skill position groups go, on paper, the Giants have managed to put together one of the best in the NFL. This should be an attractive group for quarterbacks.

The Giants can also flex their muscle as one of the blue-blood organizations in the NFL that actually have a rich history of winning Super Bowls and operating as a successful organization. The Giants are able to boast that they have won four Super Bowls with the latest one coming in 2012. They also are associated with NFL royalty, with coaches such as Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin, and players such as Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan, and Eli Manning all being pillars of the organization. All of this matters when trying to convince a future Hall of Fame quarterback that you are the best destination for them.

Lastly, with two high first-round picks in 2022, New York will be attractive to Brian Gutekunst and John Schneider as well.

Since the decline of Eli Manning, the Giants have been stuck in NFL mediocrity, but they have the opportunity to place themselves back into the conversation of NFL contenders this offseason. Historically, the Giants have always been an organization that believes in drafting and developing players, but they are in a unique position to where they should reconsider that method. They have veteran skill positions players who are proven playmakers that just need a quarterback to get them the ball—this may be one of the few times in NFL history that two All-Pro-caliber quarterbacks may be on the move.

The Giants need to scratch their conventional way of team-building and push all their chips to the middle of the table to acquire one of these two All-Pro quarterbacks. Quite frankly, the NFL is just better when the Giants have a good football team.
