Week 8’s edition of Monday Night Football is an NFC battle between the 5-2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 1-6 New York Giants. The visiting team’s quarterback—Tom Brady, you may be familiar with him—is coming off of NFC Offensive Player of the Month honors, while the home team’s quarterback, Daniel Jones, might be fighting to keep his job for 2021 and beyond.
After an exciting Sunday slate, bettors still itching to wager on the NFL can get their fix again tonight. So what should we expect on the Monday Night Football doubleheader? What is the best bet? Let’s take a look. All odds are courtesy of our friends over at BetOnline.

After an inexplicable setback in Chicago on a Thursday night early in the month of October, the Buccaneers are riding high after trouncing the Green Bay Packers 38-10 and the Las Vegas Raiders 45-20 in back-to-back games. While they will be without star receiver Chris Godwin for this game, but reinforcements are in the way in the not-too-distant future in the form of former All-Pro Antonio Brown—he won’t make his Buccaneers debut on Monday, but he will suit up next week. Still, Tampa Bay has plenty of star power on offense and defense—even if the rest of the country is still learning about the latter—including a balanced offense where running back Ronald Jones has become much more than just a complementary piece. The same can’t be said for their opponent.
Not much was expected of the Giants in 2020, but a season-ending injury to their best offensive player, running back Saquon Barkley, took away the only real advantage they had on opponents. Couple that with the massive growing pains rookie No. 4 overall pick Andrew Thomas is having and a rebuilding defense, and the Giants are barely hanging on to any semblance of relevance right now. They’re better than the Jets, and that’s about all you can say about them right now.
While Jones will fight you until the end, that oftentimes leads to mistakes. Given that the New York defense doesn’t have the horsepower to stop Brady and Co. and that the Giants simply can’t run on Tampa Bay’s defensive front, this could get out of hand in a hurry. Double-digit spreads are always scary, especially when betting on the road team, but I’ll lay the points here with the Buccaneers. They’re better at every facet of the game.
