As the calendar continues to turn, so does the 2020 College Football season. While the season is nine weeks old, it still has an “early season” feel to it. The strange year will continue next week as the Pac-12 plays its first games of the season while other schools have played as many as seven. Nonetheless, another week of opportunity for NFL hopefuls is now in the books. Let’s examine who helped themselves this weekend.

Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss

The search for risers at the quarterback position has already revealed the likes of Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, and Kyle Trask. After Corral completed 31-of-34 passes for 412 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions in Ole Miss’ 54-21 dismantling of Vanderbilt, it’s time to get serious about Corral as an NFL prospect, even if he’s only a redshirt sophomore.

Thriving under Lane Kiffin, Corral has already produced prolific passing performances against Florida, Kentucky, and Alabama but Saturday was his best showing of the season. Corral displayed the ability to work the football to all levels of the field and completed six of his eight attempts targeted 20 yards or more down the field and was a flawless 7-for-7 with two touchdowns on dropbacks that he was pressured on. There was a stretch on Saturday where Corral completed a school-record 19 consecutive passes. Corral became the first player in SEC history to finish a game with six passing touchdowns and also a 90% completion percentage. It was a historic outing for Corral and one that certainly moved the needle for his draft stock.

Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina

North Carolina wasn’t able to prevent an upset loss to Virginia on Saturday, but you can hardly blame the offense which produced 41 points and 536 total yards. While sophomore sensation quarterback Sam Howell is the triggerman for the offense, his weaponry is loaded with talent, and it feels like every week a different Tar Heel turns in a monster outing. Against Virginia, it was Brown who racked up 240 receiving yards on 11 catches with three touchdowns.

Brown has been fairly productive all season but things have really taken off over the last two weeks. Last week against NC State, Brown had season-highs in receptions with seven and yards with 105. On Saturday, he bested those numbers and logged the second three-touchdown performance of his career, both of which came against Virginia. Over the last two seasons, Brown is averaging 19.5 yards per reception on 86 total catches.

Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas

Texas already suffered disappointing conference losses to TCU and Oklahoma but found some redemption on Saturday by handing Oklahoma State its first loss of the season. In the Longhorns’ 41-34 win, Ossai shined as he collected 12 tackles, six tackles for loss, and three sacks to go with a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Ossai caught the eye of TDN scout Jordan Reid during summer scouting and has not disappointed. The recently updated TDN100 has 15 EDGE defenders ranked and Ossai certainly stood out on Saturday and made a case to separate from the congested pack. His sack on the final play of the game provided an exclamation point on a dominant day.

Charles Snowden, EDGE, Virginia

Listed at 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds while lining up in a variety of spots, Snowden is an intriguing prospect. His length, fluidity, and versatility combine to make him an appealing hybrid edge player, but with all edge defenders, their ability to rush the passer is what differentiates them. After a relatively slow start to the season in the pass-rushing department, Snowden exploded for four sacks in Virginia’s 44-41 upset win over North Carolina. Snowden added 10 tackles and a forced fumble to go with his four sacks.

Snowden set the tone early with three of his four sacks coming in the first quarter. His four sacks were the most by a Virginia defender since 2000. Snowden is currently on the outside looking in when it comes to the TDN100, but if he can continue stacking dominant performances, he’ll find himself a riser in the next update.

Otis Anderson, RB, UCF

While the UCF offense has been dynamic all season long, the catalyst for the offensive success has been the passing attack led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel and wide receiver Marlon Williams. While Gabriel and Williams enjoyed productive outings in UCF’s 44-21 win over Houston, it was the Knights’ rushing attack that was most responsible for the win on Saturday. Running back Otis Anderson gashed the Houston defense to the tune of 170 yards on 16 carries and a touchdown. Six of his 16 rushes went for at least 10 yards and Anderson averaged over six additional yards per rush after contact against Houston.

Anderson lacks ideal size but his big-play potential is what gives him appeal at the next level. While Anderson has had modest production to start the season, he hasn’t collected enough explosive runs to compensate for his size limitations. That changed on Saturday in what was one of the most productive outings of Anderson’s college career. In what is shaping up to be a weaker crop of running backs available for the 2021 NFL Draft, Anderson helped himself with his performance on Saturday.
