Nehemiah Pritchett 2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Background:

  • Class 5A first-team all-state outfielder in baseball
  • Class 5A ASWA first-team all-state

System:

  • Scheme tendencies: Mixture of man and zone
  • 2022 projected role: Starting outside CB

Pros: Nehemiah Pritchett presents good height and length. He is experienced in both man and zone coverage concepts. In press, he can be a disruptive defender with well-placed punches. He’s a good communicator when faced with stacked and bunch formations. In zone coverage, Pritchett identifies his landmarks and threats entering his range. Pritchett offers inside/out versatility. He can operate from depth in off-man coverage. He has showcased a solid backpedal to click and close on shorter routes.

Cons: Nehemiah Pritchett plays flat-footed in press coverage—he does not activate his feet. As a result, this restricts his transitional movements. His transitions to change directions and run with receivers are segmented. There are questions and concerns regarding his play speed to carry speedy receivers vertically. His punches in press coverage are consistently out of place. He will shoot the wrong hand or both hands, forcing his hips to lock while he transitions out of the sequence. His ball awareness with his back turned is lacking—he does not track or find the ball while trailing.
